Award Amount: $1,000
The HBCU Connect "Black History in Action" Scholarship is available to full-time students at accredited US colleges and universities as well as graduating high school seniors.
To apply for this award you must submit a 1000 to 1500 word essay discussing the following topics: How is African-American history relevant to success in today's world? How are you, individually, committed to making a brighter future for the African-American community? What steps have you taken? What can be done to educate young people that history is still taking place in the African-American community today?

Honors and Advanced Placement Courses
If you are looking to get into a selective college, it is crucial to take honors courses. Preparation is everything and having a history of not only taking a challenging honors program in high school, but of also doing well in those courses gives colleges a sense of how well you might do at college.

WASC is one of six regional associations that accredit public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the United States.
The #1 concern that WASC listed in their summary for improvement was more parental involvement (from parents of current students).
WE DO NOT WANT WESTCHESTER HIGH SCHOOL TO LOSE THEIR ACCREDITATION.
